We also got to see Ponting the Umpire declaring Ganguly out, a lot of decisions going against India, the racism appeal against Harbhajan Singh and India nearly pulling out of the tour. But amidst all this chaos there were a few noteworthy (if I may call it) performances in the game.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_giUtdA9F5BU/R4USvu0CyVI/AAAAAAAADDc/CUCnBJLGrgI/s200/ponting+-+the+umpire.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5153545959824869714" />

From the Australian perspective firstly Symonds getting to 150+ for the first time in his career (albeit a few decisions favoring him) , then there was Hussey who just need a chance to push his average more and more closer to the 100 mark again came up with a 150+ not out. And how can I miss out Hayden who’s just getting sweeter with his timings as age progresses. Some splendid bowling performances by Stuart Clarke and Brad Hogg to name a few.

On the Indian counterpart there was the ever reliable, zero controversial, not a huge turner of the ball - spinner, jumbo (as Kumble is popularly known) who is steadily inching towards the 600 wickets mark with just one short of it. And he has also shone with his bat in this game too. Well my friends now know that whenever I write about cricket one persons name has to be there, yes! Dada, he did contribute with his bit in this game too. And then the God himself Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar- I have never seen him as ecstatic as he was after reaching the three figure mark. It was certainly a moment to cherish – he raising both his hands towards the sky with his head held up... Given the fact that he was dismissed more that 7 times last year in the nervous nineties its quite understandable.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_giUtdA9F5BU/R4USTO0CyTI/AAAAAAAADDM/At6Saxdoo9c/s320/winning+moments.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5153545470198597938" />

Now Hussey, Symonds and Tendulkars performance raises a question in my mind. All these players crossed the 150 mark but still in the records they will have just one more century against their name. Well what is the point of toiling in the heat to score the additional 50 ? My point here is once a batsman scores 150 he must be awarded one century and one 50, when he touches the double hundred mark he must be given 2 centuries against his name. Well doing this would certainly give him his rewards by improving his statistics and would certainly inspire him not to throw his wicket once he reaches a milestone. Think about it ?

All said and done, India has moved on with the series and it has a lot more exciting moments to offer. One more suggestion I had was to send Sreeshant to join the team at this point of time, given the existing rivalry he has with Hayden and Symonds it would just make the heat of the moment even hotter 

Now that Bucknor has been replaced with Billy lets hope we have a good game at the Oh! So Fast Perth. Good luck team India…

photos courtesy - cricinfo.com

TZP

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_giUtdA9F5BU/R262Ee0CyOI/AAAAAAAADBM/LbIzh_QLZbc/s320/tzp.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5147251612238137570" />
one of the sweetest things in a long time....

just came back watching the movie taare zameen par, and i have to say there was no one in the movie theater who didnt have a heavy heart when he/she left the place.
amir khan has come up with a master piece and his direction is just flawless.
he is certainly one of the best things to have hit indian cinema and with this movie here comes a director whos here to stay.
it certainly is a tough job to convey your emotions through someone else and its all the more difficult when the person on the other end is a kid.
the kid in this movie has just done a phenomenal job and his emotions are expressed by the tears of the audience.

i personally like movies that touch my heart and bring out the emotions in me. It was just yesterday when I was taking that shortcut to school, just yesterday when my secondary school results were announced and I decided to take that dreaded jari-mari route to my junior college eventually graduating to the best chapter in everyone’s life, the engineering college.
Those carefree days would certainly be cherished throughout my life. But when I take a step back in this fast paced life and glance an eye upon the juncture of life I am presently in, is when comes the facts.

There was a phase of life when my dependents column was empty and now is a phase when I have two prominent names in the list, that of my lovely parents.
There was a phase when my father used to discuss investment with his friends and now is a phase when I am fascinated by that word
There was a phase when I had my first crush and now is the time when I have to find my soul mate.

Life still remains the same with the little joys it presents each day but in this hectic cycle I have realized that this is the right time to tighten my boots and plan out the much coveted journey called 'Life'

I take a deep breath and feel satisfied that I have achieved quite a bit in these 28 years of mine, but I do realize that there is a long long way to go....

go ganguly ...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_giUtdA9F5BU/R262oe0CyPI/AAAAAAAADBU/d69WUCdbDO8/s320/dada.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5147252230713428210" />
as all of you'll must be aware I am an ardent ganguly fan, so much so that he was my computers backdrop for one whole year
(just to be replaced by the sweetest thing to have his planet earth - deepika padukone)
2007 has certainly been one of the most memorable years for dada, the vengeance with which he made his comeback into the indian team is worth a thousand praises.

In the recently concluded indo-pak friendship series ganguly had shut the mouth of all his critics in the most efficient way - by letting his bat do all the talking.
his first century in his home ground followed by a double in bangalore was one of his best innings till date. At 35 i believe his is in the best form of his life and still has atleast 2 more years of cricket left in him.

With a tough series ahead (india down under) things are certainly not going to as rosy as it was in our back yard but dada has already shown that he has a lot to offer by hitting his first half century in the warm-up game. Lets hope he shines as usual and the series is a memorable one for india...

It would indeed be a sad day for cricket when he decides to hang his boots, but I can just say this dada... you have done well!

The Independent message

This is a small message I wrote on the 60th Indian independence day anniversary.

Hope you'll find it a good read..

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_giUtdA9F5BU/RsPau-qlOPI/AAAAAAAAB_U/O_MSXaJg4RM/s320/blog.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5099159703743969522" />

As INDIA embarks into its 60 Independence day,
its indeed a pleasure to see how a third world country is slowly and steadily making its mark in today global war. And here my reply,

Me: -
' Aap humko yaad karte hain aur SMS aata hain,
' Magar yaad toh woh aate hain, Jinhe Bhulaya jaata hain '

A fitting reply eh ? He replies back

He: -
'Nehle pe dehla, Bahut Siyana ho gaya re tu toh!'

Well not a shayari reply but nevertheless had to give an answer to this one, so heres my reply,

Me: -
' Murdoon ke shehar main aastin ka saanp hoon '
' Yaad Rakh ae dost main tera Baap Hoon '

Well just couldnt resist that the shayar in me came back after a long break, so thought of blogging this.

Hope youll found it an interesting read...

An Inconvenient Truth

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_giUtdA9F5BU/Rh_39GatR0I/AAAAAAAAApM/V3J8q7Wu6d8/s320/inconvenient-truth-2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5053029935999698754" />

It’s been a while since I have seen a movie that stays with me for over a week. The latest movie that shook me to the core, that had me all shaken up and that has exposed a very sad and true fact about the world around us is the movie ‘An Inconvenient Truth’

An Oscar award wining movie, which shows the realities about planet earth in a very thoughtful manner.

Al Gore has come out as a brilliant thinker, showing great evidences to prove his statements, and above all it’s a pleasure to hear him speak. He is such a great orator that he’ll keep you engrossed till the end.

All thanks to my room-mate who ordered the movie from block buster (online), hadn’t heard about the movie till then, and now am promoting it to every one I know.

Just to give you a gist of what the movie is dealing with, here I go…

The amont of CO2 in the atmosphere is increasing day by day and carbon-dioxide along with other gases warm the surface of the earth. Some of the side effects of this effect is that the Glaciers are melting, plants and animals are being forced from their habitat, and the number of severe storms and droughts is increasing. Some past realities are the series of hurricanes in Florida and the massive flooding in Mumbai.

He has shown some drastic differences in the way things look compared to a few years from today. Given below is a picture of the Kilimanjaro Mountain - in Africa.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_giUtdA9F5BU/Rh_3tGatRzI/AAAAAAAAApE/ZvnMgAmjsPM/s200/kilimanjaro.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5053029661121791794" />

It’s true that we in our life times will not experience a severe effect, expect for the fact that after 20 more year’s things might just look a bit different around us, but when we think of generations to come it give me an adrenile rush. It’s time we took the right step and do something to make the world a better place.

I seriously appreciate the efforts put in by Al Gore to awaken the people all around the world to this harsh fact. So lets join hands and put our right foot forward.

I would suggest each one of you to watch the movie and for some more details kindly visit http://www.climatecrisis.net/

Have a good read and a great day!

Orkut - the social network revolution

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_giUtdA9F5BU/RbV6tcNmwkI/AAAAAAAAAjU/Nwvz3ptG1M8/s320/orkut_bush.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5023055880487617090" />
Call it a new virus; call it an obsession but the orkut fever is growing like wild fire.
I was introduced to it briefly in 2004, found it interesting back then and now am totally hooked to it. It still amazes me how Google comes up with such good products each and every time. I am sure that like any other obsession this too would die out in a while but am giving it all the attention I can and it’s hogging all the lime light.

The best thing I liked about orkut is that its very user friendly. I do agree there are other socializing networks in the market that are equally good, but the fact that it’s a Google product makes me biased towards it.
Yes! I am a big fan of Google and like the fact that they keep enhancing their products and coming up with more featured time and again in each of their product.
The same thing holds true with orkut too, it has instant scrap reply feature, friends map feature, mutual friend’s lists and the list goes on and on.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_giUtdA9F5BU/RbV7tMNmwmI/AAAAAAAAAjk/tnPL32PEgy4/s200/orkut.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5023056975704277602" />

Created by Orkut Büyükkökten an employee of Google Inc. (it’s named after him), it started as one more of the then existing social network service like Friendster and MySpace.

If you want to get an estimate of the popularity of the site let me throw some figures at you. Launched in Jan 2004 by the end of July 2004 it had surpassed 1,000,000 members and the latest figure obtained in December 6th 2006 stands at 35.2 million.

Of course every good creation has its own cons and so does orkut. To name a few, there are fake ids, hate groups and obscenity.
But hey, looking at the positive side of it, it has indeed swept the social networking circuit, and its here to stay.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_giUtdA9F5BU/RbV8YMNmwnI/AAAAAAAAAjs/tVrdzqbqbNE/s200/orkut-home.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5023057714438652530" />
So folks enjoy the biggest thing in e-social networking today and keep scrapping.

Welcome Dada!!

So after a sabbatical of 6 months I am back to what I do decent enough, blogging J
Would start off by writing about a sport in which I take keen interest. Yeah, it’s too tough to guess right? Me being an Indian it had to be cricket..
So here’s to the player whom I respect..

A player whom the whole media had written off. A player who had reached the lowest point in his whole career the last year. Yes, no price for guessing as the title suggests a lot, I am talking about Saurav Ganguly.

He is one guy whom I have really liked as a player, as a leader and as sportsman. Had always felt that he was made a very bad victim of the shitty politics in the Indian sports arena.

I had always admired him as an opener and then the way he handled the young Indian team in the last world cup was praise worthy. But my respect for this man went up even further by looking at the treatment the BCCI had given to him. However bad a player’s form is on the field, if the player has been an ambassador leading the country to a prestigious tournament he doesn’t deserve such a rude treatment.

The just concluded tournament of SAF showed us one more facet of the current Indian team. They looked like a bunch of guys having no direction been led by a man who himself is a puppet in the hands of Greg Chappel.(Yeah, I am talking about Dravid)

Dravid is a great batsman, one of the best in the world, but a leader?? Nah, I would prefer someone more aggressive.

There were a few successful knocks in the tour, with centuries by Jaffer and Laxman respectively, but the man who was on a comeback trial to the team couldn’t have done better. He topped the batting average in the three test series. And that apart, I saw a different Ganguly this time. His stance, his posture, everything about him reflected a man with a mission. He had the fire in his eyes and was surely looking like the old Bengal tiger that we have all known.
And of course we all know that he is a great player, the figures speaks for itself, he has debuted in 1996 in the ODI’s and has already crossed 10K runs, a true genius.

The board has come out with the list or players for the ODI tour in WI and the 30 probable’s list for the world cup and as expected one name is certainly there. ‘Saurav Ganguly’
So with the new attitude and determination I am sure this time he is here to stay and psst…It would be fun to have a look at the best opening pair again in the ODI’s (sachin and saurav)
So here’s Kudos to dada and welcome back to the Indian side.

Roar! Do I know you??

Was Saturday morning, the 8th of April, had a game of cricket in the morning and went to get some snacks from the very phamus ‘Chaat Café’ around the corner of where I live in Fremont.
And suddenly my eyes went on this innocent looking helpless individual who was trying his level best to grasp something being explained intensely to him by a particular messenger. A messenger, hmm, what special message could this individual be conveying. First look at him and a thought runs in my mind, ‘hey have seen hundreds like him in the malls, in the cinemas houses, in the temple, in the... well virtually everywhere, ok, got this much , but who the hell are these guys.

The first look an Indian gives to his brother the so called Desi in the US, when you bump into each other in the streets, the malls , well the list is endless ( we are everywhere ) is a snort, a look which means ‘ Look at you!! What the hell are you doing in the US of A, go back to India’. But let me try recreating the experience I went through. Was visiting the well known Arora Temple in the suburbs of Chicago when this individual (or should I call him a messenger) walks up to me and goes...

He: ‘hey, I think I have seen you somewhere, are you from Bangalore’. (Wow, that’s a new and innovative way to strike a conversation.)
Me: Well, Bangalore, hmmm, dude have been there only once in my lifetime.
He: oh, but still I think I have seen you somewhere. (Guess I am much more phamus then I thought  )
Me: well, maybe (thinking, is he the next lead for BrokeBack Mountain by any chance)
He: Well this is my card, I work for an IT firm here, give a call sometime, May I have your card/number

Don’t know what prompted me to go ahead and give him my number, guess that was the mistake for the Day (I would prefer saying Day here, as I end up messing something or the other each day). And there I get a call from him, lets meet up, I have a very nice business proposition for you. Business Proposition, wow, never dreamt that I could be a business man this fast. So I did end up meeting him after all. And there in the typical calm and composed manner he removes a yellow colored (note the color here, its common for all the messengers) file and starts off with the so called proposition.

There goes the explanation, the charts, the profits, and the list is endless, don’t even recollect the whole stuff now. Somehow got rid of him and packed my bags after a couple of months and headed to CA. All’s cool here, new job, new place and one day out of the blue an individual (a desi – need I mention this??) walks up, strikes a conversation and invites me over to a get together. Hmm, interesting, get together haan?

This is something new. First thought… maybe there’s gonna be fun, some partying, some girls. I have to go there. Okay so I get a call from him the next week stating that he wants to meet me. Well I meet him and there’s no one else, I was like, did he mention ‘Get together’ or ‘get TWO gether’ (sorry for the poor joke). I was like, alrite and headed to a desi place and grabbed a samosa. And what does this chap remove from his bag?? A yellow folder and a pen... Damn, I knew very well what’s coming up.

I drifted the conversation to some other level ( am a glib talker , gifted if I may call it.. finds me in trouble a lot of times though ), finished the plate of Samosa, made the chap pay the check and left on the note that I would certainly meet him….

What?? Did I really say that? Cos even today when I happen to see that chap (can recognize him from a mile away) just start running in the opposite direction, hoping that someone else with a yellow folder is not waiting for me there 

So Beware folks, they are everywhere ……

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://venkat-narayan.blogspot.com/2006/05/excuse-me-do-i-know-you.html' title='Excuse Me!! margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/2841/1099/320/MAIN.jpg" border="0" alt="" />

Sitting in the patio watching the rain drops drench the thirsty earth, a silent tune walks into my mind. A tune making me a part of the rain, a tune that brings a ray of sun shine in the wet atmosphere, a tune to make my day.

‘Its music that shatters the barriers of silence’… this is one saying that I totally adhere to. Music has always been an integral part of my life and deeply rooted into me. Well so much so that I associate each and every stage of my life with a song. Guess this is true with each and every one of us.

When feeling blue with no one around you, just hook up to a nice tune and there you go, getting lost into the rhythm with having no need of anyone to comfort you.

Music has evolved over the ages with new technologies creeping in. Here when I talk about music what I mean is the style of making the same. It’s amazing the way a simple tune can sound so complicated with all the additions thrown in.

If you ask me about the wonder of the world, music is the top in my list. It has so many languages; so many millions of tunes that it makes me stand in awe of the fact that all these compositions have been created just by using an octave of tune. ‘Sa re ga ma pa da ni Sa’, or if I may put it ‘do re me fa so la te do’.

When I say that each and every stage of my life is associated with a song I really mean it. It takes a remote tune to take me back by 5 years of my life or maybe 10. I hear a ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ being played and all of a sudden I am in my Final year of engineering.

I hear a Maeeri being played by one of my favorite bands ( Euphoria - in the pic ), and suddenly I find myself in the canteen of my undergraduate school with my buddies singing and banging the table till I have swollen hands. A ‘Heal the World’ (forget the singer) takes me to my 8th grade…

Similarly the whole journey of my engineering was just awesome which I know many of you’ll would agree since each of our journey to achieve that coveted degree is so memorial that you always want to be a part of it. Talking about degree how can I miss my journey through my Masters.

Had come to Ohio for the same and was thrilled to see SNOW for the first time, had heard people say “ snows depressing !!” .. But for us it was like seeing something for the first time, the excitement overtook the depression… short lived though. Must have been a month before the depressing moments had to start and there was this Song from the Movie ‘ Kal Ho Na Ho’ to add to the Snow ( that rhymed ) which made the whole environment Killing…... Sonu would go ‘ har ghaadi badal rahi hain’ and we would go ‘ Snow Snow Go away’. Well the plus point to this is even when I’m stranded somewhere in Hot Arizona just have to play this song and I have snow all around me ( at least psychologically!!)

And of course don’t wanna miss out on the party scene of WRIGHT state.. Babuji zara Dheere Chalo-Remixed. Well this was a MUST have song in all the parties. But hey am I not talking a lot about my masters here. Shall write a separate blog for that journey soon..

So coming back to Music, nowadays I am avidly following sa re ga ma pa ( Zee TV ) and Indian Idol ( Sony) so that gives me an incentive to be back home from work early. Do keep boring my room mates every now and then by just starting to hum a tune.

So in this off tune phase of life there is at least so many different tunes to look up to, tunes that take you back to the memorable lanes of life , tunes that are etched in our hearts forever.. And this list is just gonna increase with each day to come.

So what’s the tune for this blog ??

GAATA RAHE MERA DIL… OR ‘My Dil Goes Mmmmm’.. Well it’s on you to decide.

A Day to remember in CRICKET

March 12th 2006, a Sunday, my day starts off as usual. Well I had to get up early as had to go for a cricket match, but thanks to the rain gods, it got called off. And so after completing my morning chores I as usual log on the my notebook. My first hit in the day is always either my blog or http://www.cricinfo.com
Well I was feeling a bit sleepy but as soon as I saw the headlines I didn’t find a need for coffee to get me going. There it goes; it had to happen one day. The way the game is shaping up it had to happen. What had to happen? Well, crossing the landmark of 400 runs in a One day. The headlines read ‘South Africa wins the Greatest game’. Well firstly here there was the India-England series going on to keep you hooked up and parallely there was this great clash going on between SA-AUS. Two of my favorite teams in the circuit (prefer SA more though). This was the last match of the 5 match series, and AUS decided to bat after winning the toss. This was the same ground (Johannesburg) where the 2003 world cup was played and like then it was Ricky Pontings day at least the first part of the innings.

He went on to score a magnificent 164 runs and was ably supported by Kathich, Gilcrisht and Hussey (well I wonder what took Hussey so long to make it into the main team). Anyways Australia posted a mammoth 434 runs, 434 well the first thought that came to my mind ( though unrelated ) was that isn’t this the total wicket tally in tests by the all time greatest Kapil Dev. Well that apart, but seeing a team post that amount of score in the first innings itself is seeing the other team give up, but that was not to happen here especially under the leadership of Graeme Smith. This man has such a great head on his shoulders and is the best leader SA has got after Cronje.

There it goes, the chase started off in a typical fashion, first look of it gave the impression that SA were just playing to salvage some lost pride, as winning was far far away. To add fury to the fire Dippenear was out cheaply for 1 run and there enters Hershelle Gibbs.
Gibbs though a prolific batsman and one of the greatest fielders in the game today, is more famous for the crucial catch drop of the great Steve Waugh in the 1999 world cup that blew away SAF’s chances. I have always been a huge fan of SA and want these guys to win the world cup once. They had nearly made it in the year 99, but for the dropped catch by Gibbs. Well the importance of the catch lies in the fact that Steve Waugh walked up to Gibbs after the match and told him ‘Son, you didn’t drop the catch, but the World Cup’. Well that was past but im sure one person who can never forget that Is gibbs himself, and will always want to avenge that defeat.
Did he do that yesterday or what!!!!. He came into the crease as a different man, a man leading an army in a battle , a man who looked equipped to save the world from a calamity (Aussies winning time and again is a calamity for me). Well those massive hits are going to be etched in the hearts of Aussies for years to come. And to make matters worse for Aussises, he was dropped on 130 by Bracken ( Well 130 isn’t that a decent score in itself to get out , not exactly , looking at the way gibbs was batting I wanted him to go on and on… who didn’t ??

He scored 175 in 111 balls recording one of the greatest innings in the history of the game. South Africa saw the game through winning in the 50th over with just one ball to spare.
This was an answer by one of the greater teams in the circuit to the greatest in the league today. Gibbs, u are the name to watch out for in the next world cup.

I quickly downloaded the highlights and saw the whole match. Phew !! what a start to the day…

Reflections

The whistling of the wind reminds me of a long lost moment, a moment lost in transition, lost in between the fast lanes of life, a moment I wished would last forever.
Life has changed dramatically in the past two and half years, from the moment I landed into the ‘land of opportunities’, the land which welcomes everyone and has room for virtually everyone.
Waking up in the morning to mamas tunes have changed to a beeping sound of my alarm clock, the lunch breaks from work at ICH(Indian café house) Seepz, have changed to Thai, Mexican and soups and salads cuisines. The freshly prepared filter coffee by mom is now replaced by Latte in Starbucks.
Evenings back home were usually spent with my locality friends, just simple bantering or gathering along for a game of cricket. Well, evenings are still spent with my friends, whom I meet online that are occasionally if I can call it.
Life seems to be running speedily towards a destination that’s unknown to me at this point of time. Wake up each day with a thought. A thought as to, what’s there to look forward to today.
My days since I have landed here has been a part and parcel which ,well I cant say can be totally forgotten , but yes except for moments that are gonna be with me forever the rest should be termed as History.
Have gone through a lot of ups and downs, used to be days when I wondered ‘is this what I am here for’.
Well I would like to mention here what I gave up back home to achieve a Masters degree here. After having completed my Bachelors with a major of Electronics I got through a job in one of the reputed firms ( PCS- if that rings a bell). Well, job was not bad but didn’t give me the kind of satisfaction I was looking for. I always wanted to achieve my MBA degree and my friends also used to think that I am a prefect marketing guy. But other things were in store for me (thanks to me).
Hence after being there for over a year I decided to work towards my Masters degree. Wanted to always major in the field of my liking if I am gonna pursue Master’s i.e. and it has to be Electrical. Hence, before actually coming to US wanted to gain enough experience or rather mould it in a way to get a RA or a TA (research/teachers assistant). Hence on that pretext I took up a teaching job in my undergraduate college.
Quit that 2 months before I got that visa much to the disappointment of my family members. Well couldn’t sit idle at home and hence set out to work in a BPO (well have this habit of experimenting stuff with life and career). Did that job for a couple of months before the day came when I got my visa. Well the worst part of all this process (application and visa processing) is that time flies of so fast, u hardly have any quality time left to spend with ur parents. Boarded my suitcases and set out one fine day chasing a dream unknown.
My thoughts were constantly centered on the fact that it would be so great in doing a research under a renowned professor.
Now comes WSU into picture (WSU?? Well what’s that) aren’t there a thousand other WSU’s here, exactly and I was lucky (that’s wat I thought then) to get into one of them called Wright state university. Walked in to find thousand others like me who pursue the same dream as me. To add to it I realized that there are no RA’s offered for students in the first quarter or at least till they have covered 4 quarters (but then don’t we need 5 quarters to graduate!!).
Well my teaching back home did help me out as I got a TA with the physics department, but here again an assistantship with no assistance (financially- if I may call it). All this compelled me to take a job I was always reluctant on taking up, well a job in a gas station.
Had heard that this is the typical journey taken by all the Master students and now I was a part of it. Here is where my nights were spent as day time was for schooling. Amidst all this tight schedule somewhere deep down my heart was hidden my dream for which I was here. A dream to top my university, to get a good GPA and to land up in a good job.

Being an international student the only credential I had, was to maintain a good GPA to get a good job. Well I did manage to get an above average GPA and started applying to all my dream companies.
With not even one reply coming back for my thousand emails sent the frustration level was bound to increase and then came a day when I decided to move on and join a consultancy.

I did join a consultancy and am currently a part of it, got myself a job in San Francisco and am working as a java developer. Well have heard that life is a full circle, am sure have not lived the whole of it as yet but seem to land back to where I left from. A software job at the end of the day.

So Intel and qualcomm have taken a back seat for the time being with java and struts leading the way. Well I know that I have the aptitude and confidence to take me through any new challenges, and I guess that what is driving me here too.
But still there are days that end up with the sulking feeling and with a dream that lives on. A dream to work in the field in which I have spent 9 years of my precious life. A dream with a destination unknown…
